Five years ago, the only thing I needed to finish my degree at UNCC was statistics. It was a required course. I failed to pass it the first three times I took it. Several times more, I withdrew before the deadline since I wasn't passing it. Without this course, I could not graduate. So I finally just walked away, got a job, and left the degree unfinished. At my parents' urging, I agreed to go back and try again, but this time with a tutor who could teach me enough to pass. We found Rob Mayville and he agreed to tutor me.
Rob came three times a week, until the last two weeks, when he came more often. He is an excellent teacher, who can explain things so non-math majors can understand them. His schedule is flexible enough that he could come when I most needed him. I have an average of 87 in the class before the final exam. I couldn't have done it without his help.
UPDATE: This student called to let me know that he scored a 100 on the final exam, the only student this professor had who accomplished that feat, and ended up receiving an "A" for the final grade in the course.
