Extended Absence
Sometimes low math achievement can be traced not to a lack of effort or ability. Prolonged illness and family emergencies may keep your child out of school for a week or more. Holes in their mathematical knowledge base, resulting from an extended absence, can culminate later into a major academic problem.
Since more advanced math courses revisit concepts from earlier courses, a small hole in one's knowledge makes learning related concepts next to impossible. Fortunately, I am certified to teach any 7th-12th math course, and can address student needs more appropriately than a tutor without teaching experience.
Home Teaching
For various reasons some parents choose to have their child home-schooled. While major educational institutions like the National Education Association (NEA) portray home-schooling as a less-than-ideal learning environment, my tutoring experiences with such students suggest they typically receive a superior education without the negative social influences found in some public schoools.
With private home schooling in mathematics I can offer your child a curriculum that not only covers all areas specified by state standards, but also includes units presenting cutting-edge mathematical theory in chaos, fractals, non-Euclidean geometry, software applications, and statistics. Try finding another tutor that can offer the same!
