This was a classic case of a solid mathematical home being built on a weakened foundation. Although possessing superior math skills, having been accepted into the honors program, this student had some holes in his web of mathematical comprehension.
Meeting on Sundays for one hour, we reinforced his understanding of concepts involving lines, radicals, and verbal translation of word problems. After we strengthened these areas, this student was more than capable of filling in the remaining holes with persistance and hard work!
I was taking Algebra as an 8th grader and began having a tough time through the second semester. I had a hard time understanding my teacher. I progressively fell behind, along with my grades.
Rob was able to explain the concepts to me so I could easily grasp them. We worked through the previous tests and lessons. We then went over the material for future lessons. I felt much better about myself and better equipped for class. I actually got a 96% on the EOC.
