I am also a strong proponent of a "well-rounded" education, believing that all math students should be able to lucidly explain in writing the thought processes they use when solving an assigned journal entry problem. With weekly writing assignments I will help my student to develop metacognitive skills that will continue to serve them for the rest of their academic careers. These journal assignments also prepare students for later english courses as I strictly enforce high grammar and spelling standards.
