Recommendation from student at Charlotte Latin School

This senior at Latin was enrolled in Calculus AB, but wanted to take the Calculus BC exam in May so as to get credit for both calculus courses. Initially, we met once per week but then increased the frequency of sessions to twice per week. In under 20 one-hour sessions I was able to prepare him sufficiently. This student emailed me a couple of times during the summer of 2007 to let me know how the test went and the results he earned. Of course, this student had a great Calculus AB teacher who laid a solid mathematical foundation that I was able to build on.

Hi,

the BC exam went well. the multiple choice seemed pretty easy and I was much more comfortable with the new stuff than I had expected to be. No homogeneous equation on there though. the free response was very manageable too, though the last one apparently expected us to have a certain maclaurin series formula memorized, which I didn't, but I guess that's spilled milk.

anyway, I just wanted to thank you again for your help. I saw what the kids taking the regular bc course were doing to review and I feel grateful I had you instead.

Just thought I'd fill you in

Hi Rob,

AP score reports finally arrived today. I got a 5 on the calc BC exam. Just wanted to drop you a line and thank you for all the help you gave me. If anyone asks me about tutoring I'll be sure to mention you. Hope math treats you well this coming year.

Cheers!

T.
