Mr. Mayville came to my rescue last year (2003-04) when I was taking Honors Pre-Cal at South Meck High School. I was struggling nightly with understanding the concepts; and no one in my family could assist me. My mom searched the Yellow Pages and called Charlotte Math Tutor. Mr. Mayville responded promptly and it was the start of weekly tutoring. At first, Mr. Mayville came once a week to my house and then twice as we discovered I needed more than 1 hour of help per week. He was always accommodating. Having him come to my house was extremely beneficial since I had no means of transportation and, as an extra plus, not having travel time provided me with additional study time.
Mr. Mayville is a very friendly and open person. He is receptive to all my questions and has offered good visual explanations and study tips. He shares related (and sometimes not) amusing stories that keep my mind awake (because let’s face it, math can be tedious and tiring!) Mr. Mayville knows and loves the subject and explains the concepts as simplified as possible. The tutoring was successful. I earned straight A’s for all 4 quarters and on both semester exams.
Now I am enrolled in Calculus AB AP and have continued to enlist Mr. Mayville’s help once a week. Thank you Mr. Mayville.
